Meet Dr. B
NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Dr. Michael Bellerose grew up in the small town of Bow, New Hampshire. He entered the Air Force in 1987 and served for twenty-eight years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant (E9), First Sergeant. He retired in Delaware in 2015 and has fallen in love with the people and culture of the communities he now serves. Today, he flies for American Airlines on the Airbus 321 and is the CEO of the nonprofit Race4Warriors. His servant leadership never stopped in his retirement.
Since 2015 he has volunteered as a Middle School and High School Volleyball Coach. He has been a substitute teacher for Sussex Academy of Arts and Science and is the Lewes/Rehoboth Rotary Club representative for RYLA (Rotary Young Leadership Awards), helping to develop leaders at the high school level locally.
Dr. Bellerose was never a traditional college student. He entered college right after High School in 1996 and completed his last degree in 2015. Throughout his life he was challenged in his military and civilian careers. When faced with these challenges, he would tackle them with continual education through traditional Universities, Colleges, and Developmental Organizations. In 2007 he put these practices into operations when he was hired as the Air Force Reserve Command's Course Director at the United States Air Force First Sergeant Academy. Through purposeful curriculum design he instilled in the students, and staff, the importance of developing a path for lifelong learning. Due to his efforts, he transformed the academy into an accredited organization within the newly formed Barnes Center for Enlisted Education. During his four-year tenure at the academy, he successfully held strategic leadership positions at every level: 2007 Course Director, 2008 Director of Operations, 2009 Director of Education, and 2010 Commandant. Some may feel you cannot compare his military academy experience to a civilian educational institution. This could not be further from the truth. The academy fell under the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). They followed the same rules and regulations as a civilian institution. Therefore, Dr. Bellerose's extensive experience can and will be an asset on the Indian River School District School Board.
